Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Fiancé

Let's be honest, most men are hard to shop for! It doesn't matter if it's a birthday, Christmas, anniversary or Valentine's Day, us ladies are usually stumped! We've put together a list of gifts that men will love! Whether they are the gift type or the memory maker we're sure to get your ideas flowing this Valentine's Day!

1. Physical Gifts. This is for those men who will actually use and appreciate a physical gift given to them! Lots of men will say they want something but never buy it for themselves, now is your time to remember what that something was!

For the business man: a watch, a new brief case, a grooming kit, etc.

For the Athlete: a gift basket of athletic gear/snacks that they love, a pair of sneakers they are hesitant to buy for themselves, etc.

For the outdoorsy man: camping gear, hiking accessories, fishing themed basket, beard grooming supplies, etc.

2. Sentimental Gifts. This type of gift giving is for you ladies that have a man that truly appreciates something from the heart.

Collectables: does your man collect something like coins or cards? This gift isn't about the price, but more about the time you put into finding that item they don't yet have in their collection.

Sentimental Items: maybe someone close to them has recently passed away, a great way to keep their memory alive is to make something new out of their loved ones tie, t-shirt, etc.

3. Memory Making Gifts.

Adventurous Guy. Plan a day trip for a hike, take him to an escape/mystery room - what does he love to do?

Thrill Seeker. Race car driving, white water rafting trip, dog sledding weekend, etc.

Music Lover. Concert tickets, guitar lessons, etc.

We hope this little list has gotten your idea's flowing for your fiancé!

How did your fiancé propose? (from the brides point of view)

"It was a typical night, nothing much going on. We were cooking pancakes together for dinner, laughing and enjoying each others company. He wasn't acting out of the ordinary, so I didn't suspect anything. After we were finished eating, I got up to start cleaning but he suggested that we just sit together and talk (this is when I started to feel something was up, cause normally after supper he would just go and play his video games). I sat back down, and he got quiet saying, he had something to tell me, but don't know how. I repeated "What" a few times feeling anxious as he was still quiet. In a flash, he pulled out a box from his sweater, placed it in front of me, opened it and asked if I would marry him. My body was in such a state of shock, that it felt like I was having an out of body experience. Still in shock mode, I kept saying "OMG, are you for real" before saying yes, of course gushing and squealing."

How did you propose? (from the grooms point of view)

"We were having pancakes for supper, I had the ring in my pocket. After dinner, I told Celine that I had something to tell her, but that I didn't know how. I got really nervous, pulled out the ring and asked Celine to marry me all in one motion. When she was done saying "Are you for real" She said yes."

November Real Bride | Erin Thiel

We are super excited to introduce our November Real Bride, Erin and her husband Jeff Thiel! We got to see Erin quite a few times before her wedding, as she bought her bridal, maids AND flower girl gowns from us! We absolutely loved working with her each and every time she came into the store and we hope you enjoy reading all about these two's love story today!

How did the two of you meet?

"We are both involved with our local Agricultural Societies. Jeff is with the Zurich Ag. Society and I'm with the Parkhill Ag. Society. In February the O.A.A.S. holds a Convention at the Royal York in Toronto. I was sitting behind him in one of the seminars, we had to pass the little cards that were given to us when we arrived in this seminar. Jeff passed me the horse card he had and I gave him the sheep one that I had. (This was when we first saw eachother) That night we met in the Hospitality Suite. He knew the people I was with so that's how we started talking."

How'd you know your fiancé was the one?

"I've never met someone so supportive. I admire his passion, his love of family and friends. To be honest...when I saw how he handled everything after my car accident, I knew I could never find someone I'd rather spend my life with."

How did your fiancé propose? (from the brides point of view)

"We were camping, just the two of us, at Fisherman's Cove. The second day we were there it was raining. Once the rain stopped, Jeff said we should go fishing. We were catching just little fish, people would come and go from the dock. Jeff almost lost some stuff out of the tackle box when he accidentally kicked it over (knowing now what was inside - it would have been terrible!). We were out there for a while, he said "lets go regroup, maybe make some food back at the trailer" we went back to the camper, he said there was a special lure in the tackle box after we was talking about how old the box was etc. I was looking for a cool looking lure - Jeff said he thought it was in that little box. When I first saw the box my jaw dropped! I turned to Jeff and looked at him and then I opened the box and he asked if I would marry him! With a couple of teary eyes I was soo happy and replied with a yes!"

How did you propose? (from the grooms point of view)

"It was a rainy day. I was pretty nervous. We were camping - the rain let up long enough for us to go fishing. I hide the ring in the tackle box. I had planned on proposing on the dock, getting down on one knee when she caught a fish but we kept getting interrupted by other fishers. So I waited until we got back to the trailer. I asked her to look for a special lure, as she was looking I took my phone out to film her. At first she didn't noticed so I said "I think its in that little green box". When she opened it, that is when I asked her to marry me. Luckily she said yes!"
